My Journey so far - the glory ahead

Over the last few weeks, I have been reflecting on my life, particularly the past ten years. Going through my journal has been an eye-opener. I didn’t realise how far God has brought me. If you don’t know where you were, you won’t grasp the mountains you have climbed to get to where you are at this moment. The song ‘See how far you’ve brought me” comes to mind. God has increased my knowledge and understanding of Him. He has taken me to a place where I know who I am and that my identity is in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For most of my life, I believed a lie. Then, ten years ago, my Father opened my eyes to see Him and to understand that He is a good Father who would not impose any generational curse to affect my present life. For the Bible says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17. That day, it felt as if blinders fell from my eyes; "I was blind and now I see..." John 9:25. God doesn’t only consult our past to determine our future - He looks at the potential He placed within us from the very beginning. He sees the end from the start, and calls us not by where we’ve been, but by who we are becoming in Him. Our past may inform our journey, but it never defines our destiny. In Christ, our future is shaped by His purpose, His grace, and His unfailing love, where even our mistakes are repurposed for His glory.
A few years ago, around this time, I remember saying to Jesus, “I want more of You.” I began praying Ephesians 1: 17- 25, and ever since that moment, it's been a journey—one of seeking Jesus and truly finding Him.
What I’ve learned is this: you can’t expect to become an Olympic athlete by training once a week—and in the same way, you can’t expect to grow closer to Jesus, experience more of Him, or be on fire for Him by only praying occasionally. A deep, vibrant relationship with Jesus takes intentional, consistent pursuit.
Over time, I discovered something beautiful: Jesus is not just someone I follow—He’s become part of who I am. He desires to be with us constantly, not just in the big moments, but in the everyday. He’s the best coach I’ve ever had. When I stumbled, He didn’t condemn me—He encouraged me to get back up. He kept pushing me to grow, to become the best version of who He created me to be.
In the past several years, I’ve realised that Jesus wants more from me—not in a burdensome way, but because He sees what’s possible. He’s the one who stirred my heart to go deeper, to not just pray more often, but to fast too. And when I thought I was getting the hang of it, He shifted things again—because He’s still calling me higher. He continues to challenge me, stretch me, and lovingly demand more—because He knows that there’s more in me. And honestly, I want to give Him everything.
After I “made it” to what I thought was a spiritual milestone, I quickly realised—there’s always more. More depth. More growth. More of Jesus. This journey with Him is continual, and it doesn’t stop here; it stretches all the way into eternity.
Romans 8:29 puts it beautifully: “For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…”That means God’s plan for each of us is to look more and more like Jesus. As Bible Hub puts it, it’s a process—God shaping us to reflect Christ. It involves letting go of our old ways of thinking and embracing a new identity that mirrors His character. It’s not a one-time thing. It’s lifelong.
Honestly, this transformation hasn’t been easy. When I prayed and told Jesus I wanted more of Him, I didn’t fully grasp what I was asking, but He answered. I received more of Him in every sense. More revelation from His Word. More understanding. More of the Holy Spirit’s power. More grace to cover my weaknesses. More victories over sin and challenges. More purpose. More joy. More peace. More work to do for His Kingdom. And yes, more reasons to rejoice! If I ever thought this was it—that this life now is all God has for me—I’d be settling short. Because the truth is, there’s still more. Always more in Him.
Last year, I had a dream that’s stayed with me. In the dream, my grandson came to visit and ran into the house with his shoes still on. Normally, people take their shoes off at the door, but he didn’t—and I instinctively ran after him to prevent him from tracking mud all over my clean floor. But no matter how hard I looked; I couldn’t find him. Then suddenly, I heard a voice—echoey, clear, and powerful—that said, “If you seek Me, you will find Me, if you search for Me with all your heart.” God used this analogy to tell me to keep my focus on HIM
That moment shook me. I looked it up, and there it was in Jeremiah 29:13: “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” This dream reminded me of something so important: it’s not enough to be a casual seeker. God isn’t hiding, but He does want to be pursued with our “whole” heart. He reveals Himself to those who are all-in—those who have placed every hope, every dream, every part of their life in one basket: JESUS.
It’s not always an easy road. There’s a cost to following Him this deeply—it means dying to self, letting go of comfort, and being willing to lay everything down for His glory. But those are the ones who find Him, the ones who experience His fullness. And honestly, there’s nothing more worth it.
I know deep in my heart—I haven’t seen anything yet. There’s still so much more ahead. Over time, I’ve come to realise something profound: I am RICH! Not in the way the world always defines it—sure, flying around in a private jet sounds amazing (who wouldn’t love that kind of convenience?)—but real richness goes far deeper than material things.
To me, being rich means having Jesus. Some of you might know that beautiful song by Lynn DeShazo:
“Lord, You are more precious than silver.
Lord, You are more costly than gold.
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds,
And nothing I desire compares with You.”
That song says it all. To me, God truly is more precious than silver, more costly than gold, and more beautiful than diamonds. I honestly don’t know where I would be without Him. His presence, His love, His faithfulness—that’s true wealth.
So, as I look ahead, I’m filled with hope and expectation. I believe with all my heart that the next season, for me and you, is going to be incredible. Because with God, the best is always yet to come.
May we yield to Him as he calls.
Thanking God for your life and the way your messages consistently challenge and inspire us to draw closer to Him. As you step into this new milestone, may the Almighty reveal Himself to you in fresh and powerful ways.
