Returning To Our First Love.

Journey back to THE LIGHT.
Journey back to THE LIGHT.

Last Sunday, believers around the world came together to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It was a truly joyous occasion — churches were packed, overflowing with people eager to worship. During these services, many gave their lives to Christ for the first time, and several others chose to rededicate their lives to Him.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I wanted to share a comment someone made about the previous post: they said, “Being reminded of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice keeps humanity in check.” I couldn’t agree more.

This past week, reading about Jesus’s journey to the cross touched me deeply. It brought Jesus back to the forefront of my mind and heart. I was reminded of the incredible exchange He made — my sins for His righteousness. Today, I stand as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It’s because of Him that I can call God ‘Father.’ And it’s because of Him that everyone, no matter their skin colour or social status, can experience the presence of God.

This season also reminds us of “the fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 9:10). Sometimes, without realising it, we can become overly familiar with God, with church, with the Bible — and lose a sense of reverence. It’s easy to take things too lightly without meaning to. But this season calls us back to that awe, that deep respect, and that awareness of who He truly is.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for the times when we have acted casually towards you.

We know from Scripture that the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth. This glorious truth points us straight to Christ’s finished work on the cross. And it brings every one of us to a defining moment — the valley of decision. Christ is standing before us, saying, “This is who I am, and this is what I have done for you.” He is asking us, just as Joshua did, to “choose this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:15).

The choice is clear: We are called to follow Christ Jesus. If you're out there right now and you desire to give your life to Jesus all over again, you can. And if you've never given your life to Him before, you can do that, too. In 1 Corinthians 15: 1- 4, Paul the Apostle writes in his letter:

“Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, [ of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. 2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried and raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” (NLT)

This is the gospel that Paul preached — the first time he shared this message with the Corinthians, as it’s the first letter he ever wrote. Paul tells them he is declaring the gospel to them. But what exactly is the gospel? It’s this: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; He was buried; and He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.”

These are the essential facts.

My friend, there is no gospel apart from these three truths.  This is the good news: Jesus Christ died for you and me, He was buried, and He rose again.  This truth challenges us to hold firmly to the gospel we have received, especially in times when it is being attacked or questioned. You might say, "Okay, but what does it mean for me?" — and that’s where “hope” comes in.

Christ’s resurrection isn’t just an event in history — it is the proof of His victory over death. Because He rose, we too can have eternal life.  This hope goes beyond the grave. It offers us the promise of spending eternity with God in a new heaven and a new earth.  His resurrection is a demonstration of triumph over sin, death, and the devil, and it gives us the confidence that, through faith in Him, we too can overcome every enemy we face.

We are hearing the voice of God calling us to wake up — to return to our first love. He is urging us to renew and deepen our relationship with Him, going back to that initial encounter, that first passion we had when we truly met Him. The world around us is changing rapidly. Strange and unsettling events are unfolding — all of it perfectly aligned with what the Bible tells us will happen in the last days.

Like many of you, I’ve been watching the signs of the times, and it’s clear that we are approaching a global cataclysm — one that Scripture has long warned us about. In Luke chapter 21, Jesus spoke about these very things. He said in verse 28: “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Jesus is encouraging us — His faithful followers — to lift our eyes to heaven with faith, hope, and great joy, because our full transformation is getting closer.  We don’t need to live in fear of what’s happening around us. The only fear we need is the reverent fear of our Father.

For those who are already following Jesus, the call is to keep focusing on Him — to seek a deeper understanding and sharper discernment of the world around us. For those who are standing on the sidelines, undecided, the time to choose is now. You must decide: will you serve yourself, or will you serve Jesus?

And finally, there are some who may have no idea what I’m talking about — those who have never accepted Jesus as their Saviour. To you, I want to share something simple yet powerful that I once heard from a preacher:  The ABC of Salvation.

A = Admit you’re a sinner. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.’  Romans 6:23.

B = Believe, Jesus as Lord. “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9.

C = Call upon His name. “For Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

If you choose Jesus, let this prayer be your prayer.

"Dear Lord Jesus, I come before You today, acknowledging that I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and ask You to come into my heart and life. I choose You as my Saviour and Lord. I confess my sins and ask for Your cleansing. I rededicate my life to You and commit myself fully to Your service. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness, Lord. Please guide me and fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that I may walk in Your ways and live a life that is pleasing to You. In Your name, I pray. Amen."

My prayer is that this message ministers to you.

God blessings upon you and yours.
